Statement: Hubcap Sculpture created by Sarah E. McHugh for the 2015 Summer Arts Festival inspired by the “Fusion” of channeling her ancient Celtic ancestral and mythological heritage with the elements used to create the piece and her ever constant sense of the power of Nature to inform her work. “There are old trees in my yard and the woods around that show me their faces hidden within.  They loom out from the broken limbs and crannied bark and speak to my imagination telling me about the Green Man of Old who was worshiped by the ancient tribes for his protection against the raw elements of winter. He symbolizes the life that is found in the natural plant world and the earth itself.”
